Talks Succeed: TLP Ends Sit-In Following Deal with Pakistan Government

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination IPC Rana Sanaullah said on Friday that he never bowed to pressure and after bargaining with Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan TLP, which had been on a seven-day sit-in at the Faizabad interchange they agreed to remove their blockade and thus the government would boycott Israeli goods.

TLP led by Hafiz Saad Rizvi reluctantly agreed not to advance further after negotiations with the government representatives Dr. Muhammad Shafiq Ameni and Allama Ghulam Abbas Faizi and the provincial minister for minorities Sanaullah and minister of information Attullah Tarar.

Sanaullah in a press conference with TLP representatives also praised the killing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describing him as a terrorist involved in war crimes. He called on the international community to act against Netanyahu and further suggested the latter oppressed Palestinians, which explained the TLP protest.

The boycott would not only cover Israeli goods, but also the goods of companies who have commercial relations with Israel decided Sanaullah. He said that a government committee would be established in relation to such a sensitive identification of products and companies, in collaboration with TLP. Also, he said that the government had made the contingency shipment to Gaza and intended to dispatch another 1,000 tons by 31st July.

Sanaullah also stressed the pace of the government to work more for the safe release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

The TLP’s sit-in was initiated by Hafiz Saad Rizvi through the gathering at Liaquat Bagh followed by Faizabad. The main wishes of the rioters were a governmental call for a boycott of all Israeli goods, funds sent to Palestinians without any delay, and for Benjamin Netanyahu to be recognized as an international terrorist.
