200 Liters of Contaminated Drinks, 225kg of Spoiled Meat Destroyed by PFA

The food safety teams of the provincial food authority stepped up their inspection recently to keep a check on food in the provincial capital to avoid the menace of adulteration.

PFA watchdog teams for example in a day did check up on production units, milk shops eateries, general stores, poultry shops, and bakeries. They performed intense inspections by majoring on the quality of the foods served and health issue of foods.

Saying this while talking to the media persons on Thursday, PFA Director General Asim Javaid informed that one of the major operations conducted today was regarding a beverage production unit on Kasur Road. Management put the unit under detention for various offenses such as the employment of dangerous chemicals and flavors that are not fit for human consumption, and was ordered to cease production instantly. The operator was also established to be operating the business without a valid license for the sale of food items.

To this, Javaid revealed that, through the operation launched by the team, they were compelled to pour away 200 liters of carbonated drinks and 225 kilograms of chickens that were unfit for human consumption. Further, they seized 600 bottles – all empty; machines, flavour, cylinders; drums; labels; a water tank; a fan; polythene bags and several others.

Meanwhile, the meat safety task force conducted tests of 35000 kg of meat and chicken in 17 shops of poultry in the market of Tollinton and in several vehicles, several tested the meat and chicken products to check their safety.
