Pakistan Calls on Afghan Interim Government to Resolve Cross-Border Terrorism Issues

Pakistan’s envoy to Afghanistan, Asif Durrani still recalled that Afghanistan’s new interim government must respond to Pakistani questions concerning increased cross-border terrorism. These comments were made by him when he was speaking at a book launch event that was being held at ISSI and had been organized by CAMEA.

The book, titled *“The Return of the Taliban: Well, under the title ‘Multiple International and Regional Perspectives,” is jointly compiled by Amina Khan, director of CAMERA, and involves scholarly contributions from scholars from different countries such as Pakistan, China, Russia,, and Afghanistan to name a few.

In particular, Ambassador Durrani noted that the book helped provide an understanding of the governance situation in Afghanistan since the Taliban coup in 2021. He said that Afghanistan must perhaps begin grappling with issues of cross-terrorism, which had a long correlation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Zahid Hussain, Ambassador Omar Samad,, and Rangina Hamidi also spoke at the event concerning the current scenario of Afghanistan. They delved into the socio-political topics of governance, security, and human rights in the country with a special emphasis on education as well as the necessity of the world’s interaction with Afghanistan now under the auspices of the Taliban.

The event highlighted the importance of the book in offering the much-needed academic contribution toward understanding Afghanistan even as the Taliban celebrates its three years in power.
