The chief of the Awaam Pakistan Party Miftah Ismail has vowed to approach the court against K-Electric complaining about the existence of 350% increase in electricity rates in 2015. Addressing a rally during a demonstration outside K-Electric Limited headquarters, Ismail took time to condemn the government on the electricity tariffs and especially the burden on the citizens’ pockets.
Ismail recalled that while the Pakistan People’s Party pledged to offer 300 free electricity units, this has not been delivered by the party. He wondered where such rates had gone, yet salaries have been had been inflated by a monstrous 350%.
He iterated the stand that if the rest of society does not get free electricity, then why should anyone else? ‘We are not marauding over our rights,’ he said. According to them, ‘We have plans to lay our side and expect the media to awaken the society on the plights of the suffered majority and Government attitude to the problem. ’
Ismail has also expressed some of his worry about the efficiency of load shedding. He queried as to why, when they experience power outages known as load shedding, electricity bills do not decrease respectively, given that should power outages last for 12 hours, then power should be providing a 12-hour service.
