Close Call in Peshawar: Private Jet Lands Safely After Bird Strike

A private jet flight traveling from Karachi to Peshawar (flight ER 550) had a scare on Tuesday, July 9th, after encountering a bird strike. The incident, which resulted in damage to one of the aircraft’s engines, thankfully did not lead to any injuries thanks to the pilot’s skillful handling of the situation and a safe landing at Peshawar airport.

According to reports, the bird strike occurred mid-flight, compromising the plane’s right engine. The pilot, however, remained calm and initiated the necessary procedures for a safe landing. Thankfully, all passengers and crew onboard emerged unscathed.

This incident underscores the potential dangers birds pose to airplanes, especially near airports. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has consistently raised concerns with local authorities regarding the accumulation of garbage near Peshawar airport. These unsanitary conditions are suspected to be attracting birds and creating a higher risk of bird strikes.

The incident follows a series of similar bird strike events reported at Peshawar airport, prompting questions about airport safety protocols. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the bird strike and identify any measures required to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
