The recent hostility between Israel and Hezbollah has led to the deaths along Lebanon’s southern border. On Friday, Israeli forces were said to have targeted and eliminated six fighters and a child and, in response, Hezbollah fired rockets and artillery at the military targets of Israel.
Four Hezbollah fighters were reported to have died in the towns of Mays al-Jabal and Tayr Harfa by security sources. A further fighter was killed in Aitarun, and in the village of Aita situated some 14 km north of the border, an Israeli raid eliminated a fighter of Hezbollah, identified as Mohammad Najem, together with a child. The Israeli military said that Najem was a part of the Hezbollah rocket and missile team.
More than 600 people have died in Lebanon since the conflicts started in October; more than 400 of them are members of Hezbollah, and 130 are civilians. The situation remains tense even to this day and there are question marks over the probability of wider conflict in the region.
