Islamabad: To the consumer’s detriment the CPPA-G has more than doubled its positive adjustment request to Discos for June. The modified request is now at a high Rs2. 6307 a unit compared to a previously estimated Rs2. 1057 a unit.

The major adjustments made to arrive at this figure include adjustments on the prior calculations and a steep increase in the RLNG prices which the consumers would be saddled with an additional burden of Rs34.4 billion.

Pakistan’s NEPRA is going to conduct public hearings on 31st July 2024, to examine the new data and make a final decision on the adjustment.

This has generated apprehension among consumers considering the current increase in the cost of living. When implemented, the rise of the tariffs is expected to only worsen the financial problems of both households and businesses.
