Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope took England out of a hole on the third day of the second Test against the West Indies at Trent Bridge. When tea was taken on the fifth day, England was 116 for the loss of one wicket in their second innings, and leading by 75 runs. Duckett was on 61 and Pope remained on 48 all unsaid. Their stand was 108 runs after evening Zak Crawley – ran out for three.
West Indies scored 457 with Joshua Da Silva 82 n. o and Shamar Joseph 33, England began the second innings 41 runs behind. Indeed, Pope’s aggressive approach and Duckett’s responsibly compiled fifty helped England wrest back the initiative.
