The Punjab government has collected more than Rs 518 Billion in tax revenues through e-Pay Punjab an efficient online provincial taxes and levies system developed by the department of the government of Punjab. The above announcement was made after a meeting that involved a Periodic progress check conducted by Faisal Yousaf, the Chairman of the Punjab IT Board on Friday. In May 2009, in a meeting, it was observed that such a huge revenue was generated through 59 million plus online transactions.
Yousaf said that e-Pay Punjab has made a revolutionary change in the face of taxation where people can pay 84 taxes and levies from 18 departments conveniently. The PITB came up with e-Pay Punjab in consultation with the Punjab Finance Department and is the only government payment aggregator the body whose main target is to ensure that citizens lead easier lives.
