The Karachi Metropolitan Company (KMC) has launched a crackdown on people and companies disposing of waste on streets and footpaths within the metropolis.
Notices have been issued to eating places and enterprise institutions below the Sindh Native Authorities Act for littering in public areas, Geo Information reported on Saturday.
In response to the KMC spokesperson, the authorities will take stern measures towards those that violate the legislation by littering in public areas. Offenders could face fines of as much as 50,000 rupees or be sentenced to as much as three years in jail.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab acknowledged that municipal inspectors would act in accordance with the legislation and take obligatory actions to handle the difficulty.
He additional added that three resorts had already been issued notices for dumping waste on footpaths and public areas. The institutions had been warned that if the issue was not resolved inside three days, authorized motion would comply with.
