On Monday thousands of Gazans ran away from the humanitarian zone as the Israeli military called them to evacuate the area because an operation was going to be conducted because of continuous rocket attacks. This displacement arose when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington attending a vital meeting with President Joe Biden. The visit is to send a message to the contenders following the clash that happened on October 7, after Hamas attacked the southern part of Israel.
Half of the Palestinian population was forced to flee their homes, as the Israeli military expelled them from the eastern Khan Yunis section of the Al-Mawasi humanitarian area, which was designated for the Palestinians only two months prior to the event. The military said it was true that their force had evacuated Coordination because they were weighing up for an operation to address rocket attacks.
Consequently, refugees with their belongings were on the streets of Khan Yunis moving on cars, motorbikes and donkey cart Ages, etc. Hassan Qudayh said this during the panic, as he made breakfast for his children and felt safe for a month, the shells hit their house, and instead of promised peace, they got warning leaflets. The man said that it was the 14th or 15th time the family had been displaced and stated he wanted this war to end.
The conflict has caused numerous negative consequences. Hamas’s attack of the 7th of October is reported to have claimed the lives of 1,195 people, the majority of whom were non-combatant, and have taken 251 hostages to this date of which 116 are still held in Gaza. The operations of retaliation have claimed the lives of at least 39,006 mostly civilians based on Gaza’s health ministry. The conflict has escalated in the Gaza Strip and has also deepened the humanitarian challenge there.
The living conditions in the Jabalia refugee camp are very dire; there is scarcely any water; and the Shanbari family suffers from different ailments for the simple reason that there are no more available medical supplies. There has been little activity in the areas of negotiations of a ceasefire and the prisoner exchange; Netanyahu’s visit to Washington brings out more tensions between Israel and the US.
