Georgia’s Rara Thomas Arrested: Faces Multiple Charges

The Georgia Bulldogs have once again been hit hard through their football program with the arrest of wide receiver Rara Thomas. He has been arrested with three counts of second-degree cruelty to children, and three counts of family violence battery as stated by the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff’s department. The exact circumstances under which he was arrested are unknown, he currently sits in jail without the possibility of being released on bail.

This is the second time that Thomas has been arrested after he joined the Bulldogs’ team. Officers arrested him before in January 2023 for false imprisonment and one count of family violence battery and misdemeanor, but the charges were dismissed.

The Bulldogs had several legal cases concerning their players for the last time. The locations for the driving-related violation include 24 in total with a deathly accident in January 2023. SEC Media Days is an annual event where the universities’ representatives present their teams and discuss the season expectations, during this event, head coach Kirby Smart stated that he was disappointed and wanted everyone to know that the institution does not support such actions.

Below are some other cases that have occurred recently; Smael Mondon Jr., a Linebacker was arrested for reckless driving and likewise Demello Jones, a defensive back was cited for street racing. Also, the team has challenges in the players’ conduct as running back Trevor Etienne was arrested in March for drink-driving and other offenses. Despite the dismissal of the DUI charges, he pleaded no contest to charges that correspond to reckless driving and under-aged use of alcohol.
