Hamas is still ablaze with Israeli forces escalating their attack and advancing tanks further into the south of the Gaza Strip. Palestinian medics stated that 66 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by the Israeli attacks within the past 24 hours.
Tanks have moved into the towns of Al-Karara, Al-Zanna, Bani Suhaila east of khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. Official medical rolls stated that seven Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes in these areas on Sunday; however, residents reported that more than 20 people were killed. People indicate high level of combat in the eastern part of the Khan Younis district.
The raids have displaced thousands of families; they now have sought refuge in overcrowded areas in Al-Mawasi to the west and Deir Al-Balah to the north. The Israeli military says the raid in eastern Khan Younis is in response to renewed rocket attacks and in order to prevent Hamas from re-supplying.
Israel Defense Forces has constantly encroached into the northern parts of the city of Rafah near the Egyptian border although complete take-over has not been done. Tanks have also fired intimidating rounds on parts of central Gaza strip, the Bureij and Nuseirat camps, and Juhr El-Deek village.
CIA chief William Burns plans to meet Israeli and Egyptian emissaries and Qatar’s premier in Rome to broker a Gaza truce and hostage release by Hamas. While Hamas wants a ceasefire to stop the violence, Isreal’s, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the operation will continue to eliminate Hamas.
Kan said on Saturday that Israel sent its response to the latest ceasefire proposal to Washington. Negotiations have been made to find a solution but so far both parties has accused the other for being the cause of the deadlock.
At the beginning of the week, Israel threatened a serious reaction to Hezbollah claiming that it was responsible for the deaths of 12 children and adolescents in a rocket attack on a football field in the occupied territory of the Golan Heights. The event has made people more anxious and creates an impression of a large-scale war.
Local health department believes that in the Israeli operation in the Gaza strip over 39 000 Palestinians have lost their lives which includes both terrorists and civilians. Israel claims that a third of the death is comprised of militants. Yesterday’s death brought the overall Israeli casualties to 328 soldiers since the operation to retaliate over a Hamas led attack in southern Israel in October began. They stated that the October 7 attack led to the killing of roughly 1 200 people while 250 were held as hostages, in Israeli reports.
Also, the Israeli military claims that it has bombed the Houthi targets in Yemen for revenge for attacks by those involved.
