19-year-old Shoko Miyata, Japan’s women’s gymnastics team captain was expelled from the Paris Olympics after smoke claims, the local media said on Friday.
Investigation and Departure
Concerning the issue of smoking, the Japan Gymnastics Association is investigating whether Miyata, who is below the Japanese legal smoking age of 20, violated the organization’s code of conduct. Other publications have claimed that she has already fled the team’s training camp in Monaco, therefore raising serious questions as to whether she will actually be in a position to compete in the Games or not.
Current Status
