Lahore PTI secretary Awais Younas remanded in police attack case

On Wednesday, the ATC approved a 10-day physical remand of Awais Younas, secretary of PTI Lahore, in connection with a case relating to an attack on police outside the Zaman Park residence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Also during the same period, the PTI MPA Imtiaz Sheikh was produced in the Zilleh Shah murder case and was sent on a 14-day judicial remand. Police in Racecourse decided to present Younas before the court requesting more time to investigate the man.

The investigating officer stated before the court that during the identification parade at the jail,, Younas was pointed out by the witnesses. The officer applied for 20 20-day physical remand to go on with the investigation.

But Younas’ lawyer opposed the remand saying that his client was a victim of political vendetta and that the charges against him arose from a year-old incident. Still, the court allowed a 10-day remand and asked the police to produce Younas again on the 14th of September.

In the case of Imtiaz Sheikh the Investigating Officer reported that there is no reason to hold him in further custody. The court accepted and ordered that Sheikh be taken to jail on judicial remand and that he should provide an investigation report at the next hearing.

This legal action is part of a continuing probe that touches on high-profile cases of political personalities thus premising politics and justice.
