Paris Olympics has brought the country much pride, with Arshad Nadeem winning a gold medal in this game. Both sitting president Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated him on the huge record-setting jump in Javelin throwing. They said that he used all his strength and skill and congratulations are in order; he has put Pakistan on the map.
Pakistan’s Armed Forces complimented Arshad Nadeem by referring to him as a role model for everyone. Everyone began rejoicing for him as he emerged as the first Pakistani athlete to win an individual gold medal in the Olympics.
Many other leaders including National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also pleased to see Nadeem’s endeavors and great talent. They said that his 92. 97-meter throw has put the whole country on ears.
Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori were glad about the victory of Nadeem as it broke Pakistan’s 40-year wait for an Olympic gold. Local media reported Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said Nadeem ‘will be given 50 million rupees when he comes back and there will be a huge reception for him’.
