Pakistan Invites Oman to Invest in Agriculture, Minerals, and IT Under SIFC

On Tuesday, the government of Pakistan invite Oman to invest in its agriculture, minerals, and information technology through the Special Investment Facilitation Council. This invitation was extended during the eighth session of the Pakistan Oman Bil Business Political Consultations which was held in Muscat Oman 23–24 September and the outcome of the trade between the two countries totaled USD 2 billion.

The meeting was presided over by the Assistant Secretary of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Middle East, Shehryar Akbar Khan, and the Omani ambassador for GCC and other regional neighbors, Ahmad bin Hashil bin Rashid Al Maskari.

As part of the discussions,, the Parties also took stock of the current state of multilateral cooperation between the two countries in political, trade and investment, security and defense, cultural, health, and consular fields. They also talked about the bilateral relations of multi-lateral organizations on the relation of Pakistan-Oman.

Ministers of the two nations declared the intent of the parties to raise bilateral trade and improve investment relations. Pakistan welcomed Oman for investment in its sectors of agriculture, minerals and IT when a Pakistani delegation invited Oman on behalf of the SIFC framework.

Oman for this supportive response blasting support for the First Pakistani Business Expo plan to be held on October 13-14, 2024 at Muscat- Oman. The Omani side also appreciated the Pakistani decision to provide visas on arrival to the Omani citizens.

Other issues of regional and international concern of common interest were also discussed during the consultation process. While appreciating Oman’s support about the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan said that it had always received Oman’s constructive support in this regard.

Each side expressed enormous concern about the political actions of Israel towards the people in Gaza and the continuous suffering. They demanded an end to hostilities and the withdrawal of forces and clearly reiterated their commitment to the formation of logical a continuous and viable Palestine.

The Pakistani delegation also, is worth mentioning, interacted with Oman’s under-secretary for Diplomatic Affairs – Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al- Harthy who underlined Oman’s determination to build and fortify the relations with Pakistan and to move forward in the framework of dialogue.

The Bilateral Political Consultations play an important role in both the countries to discuss and strengthen their historical and strategic partnership.
