Pakistan’s Leaders Pay Tribute to Armed Forces on Defence Day

On its defense day, the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari,, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirm their commitment to the Defence of Pakistan against any sort of threats against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan.

September 6 is celebrated as Defence Day to pay tribute to the 1965 war when Pakistan’s armed forces managed to resist a sneak attack by India which was in numerical strength superior to Pakistan’s. The day was started by the ceremonies of changing guards at places like Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi and Allama Iqbal in Lahore.

Speaking to the media, President Zardari gave assurance of the desire of Pakistan to attain long-lasting peace and cooperation with other countries in the region including its neighbors. But he said that sustainable peace in the region is possible only when their miseries are not ignored and spices up.

‘The armed forces are standing today as ever prepared to counter any threat to the territorial integrity of our country,’ Zardari added in the message.

The current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on X tweeted Pakistan’s soldiers, martyrs,, and the people who have fought for the country. He called upon the nation to take a lead from their sacrifices and also strive towards the reconstruction of Pakistan with the ethos of September 6 in view to return the country to the vision of its founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

“To sum it up, we have to make a prosperous nation where poverty, health, and education, among others,, can be solved,” said the prime minister.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also celebrated the day and termed it as a bright chapter in Pakistan’s defense history. She eulogized the spirit of all those in the Pakistani armed forces and all the people who resisted aggression.

The Services Chiefs including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee also expressed similar sentiments hailing the soldiers who brutally defended the motherland. The ISPR in a statement reiterated the stand of the armed forces to safeguard the country from any and all threats & challenges.
