Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that relocation of Chinese industries to Pakistan will help improve the local economy, provide employment opportunities, and enhance exports, Radio Pakistan reported.
Presiding over a meeting in Islamabad on the outcomes of his recent visit to China as prime minister, Shehbaz urged that there should be no slippage in the implementation of the deals.
This followed a clearance by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz who gave the nod for a China-Pakistan business partnership to move Chinese industries to Pakistan, which underlined his government’s agenda of attracting investment.
He underlined that China is a friend of Pakistan for a long time and has never left its back in a difficult situation. China is more interested in expanding its investment in this country because the Chinese leadership knows Pakistan’s importance.
A strategy was discussed during the meeting in regard to displacing Chinese industries, especially textiles, plastics, leather, and the medical and surgical types of equipment to Pakistan.
As for the source of funding, the Board of Investment revealed that 78 Pakistani companies are keen on engaging Chinese firms for this project. PM Shehbaz appreciated the Board’s work regarding these images and asked the relevant agencies to extend their support to these partnerships.
Besides that, the Prime Minister directed to development of safe cities in Dasu and Diamer Bhasha for the security of Chinese personnel involved in these projects.
