Pro-Russian Hackers Arrested in Spain After Cyberattacks on NATO Countries

Three members of the pro-Russian hackers have been detained in Spain for hacking Spain and other NATO countries. The Spanish Civil Guard disclosed this on Saturday.

The two have not been named but are said to have engaged in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on various public relevant institutions, and sectors. These attacks, it was alleged, targeted government websites, basic services, and critical infrastructures of countries that have stood with Ukraine in this fight against Russia.

On released videos, the police acted out an arrest operation, at one of the suspects’ houses; the house had a hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union flag.

The incidences were attributed to the hacktivist group NoName057(16) formed after the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. This group has been cited to have been behind several hacks and in their charters they have said that they will counter any action they believe to be against Russia by the West.

The arrests were made in Manacor on Mallorca and in Huelva and Seville, south Spain. Their activities remain under investigation up to date.
