Punjab Government Steps Up Monkeypox Prevention Measures

Every day a new case of monkeypox is reported in the country, the Punjab Government has stepped up Prevention measures to contain the Monkeypox outbreak in the province.

The government of Punjab has put measures in practice to control the monkeypox virus by deploying isolation facilities at six airports for the suspected patients. Such centers will comply with the WHO guidelines, and the other persons traveling and working will be isolated. Airport officials will be vaccinated, and healthcare professionals will be trained about monkeypox.

This means that most hospitals will create sequester sections, and airlines must follow stringent operational procedures. The Ministers of Provincial Health and Dr. Javed Akram discussed the screening arrangement at Lahore airport. The government is also presently looking at the production of antiviral drugs locally for treatment and stressed the role of the airport authority in halting the further transmission of the virus.
