Railway Announces Fare Reduction

Pakistan Railways has announced a reduction in passenger train fares, as per a recent press release. The fare reduction applies to all classes of passenger trains nationwide.

For AC classes, fares have been reduced by Rs100 to Rs150, while economy class fares have been decreased by up to Rs50. This new pricing will take effect on Saturday, August 3, across all passenger trains in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Ali Baloch, emphasized that generating profit from passenger trains has never been a priority for Pakistan Railways. He explained that the fares are set merely to cover operational costs. This year, the focus is on enhancing passenger facilities. Improvements include the construction of executive washrooms at major stations, the addition of premium lounge dining cars to more trains, and the upgrading of trains to the standards of the Green Line with new coaches.
