SEOUL:
A South Korean courtroom has issued an arrest warrant for suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol, investigators stated on Tuesday, prompting a whole bunch of supporters to assemble on the gates of his personal residence.
Investigators probing Yoon over his December 3 declaration of martial regulation requested the warrant after he didn’t report for questioning a 3rd time. Crowds gathered outdoors his house Tuesday wielding placards and South Korean flags, chanting: “Martial regulation authorized! Impeachment invalid!”
“The arrest warrant and search warrant… had been issued this morning,” the Joint Investigation Headquarters managing the probe into Yoon stated in a press release.
Yoon’s authorized group described the arrest order as “unlawful and invalid” and filed an injunction to nullify it.
