Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif urged to put an end to terrorism in the country after several tragic attacks in Balochistan on Sunday night. Speaking before the federal cabinet on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that more than 50 people, including soldiers and law enforcement, were killed in the recent bout of violence.
The Prime Minister described the actions of the terrorists as reprehensible in that, if they intend to assert authority through violence then they cannot do so using the corpses of Pakistanis. He further said that the real motive behind this devastation is to hamper the growth of Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz once again re-emphasized that the government is willing to talk with anybody and everybody who does not harbor enmity and hostility against Pakistan and its constitution but one thing is clear, the government of Pakistan will not negotiate with enemies and terrorists. He also reassured all the security forces of the government’s full backing in terms of resources including finances, and if need be cutting on other expenditures.
The attacks, which killed at least 73 people, involved the destruction of police stations, railway tracks,, and highways, which halted a lot of operations. PT: Rail traffic to Quetta was stopped with the shutdown of a rail bridge through blasts while the militants also attacked a rail link to Iran. In Musakhel, on highways, gunmen xe34cole have checked the identity of passengers killed 23 of them, and burned 35 vehicles most of which were trucks of coal.
In another similar episode on Sunday, six personnel of Balochistan Levies including four passed away in an armed attack while terrorists targeted a station in the Kalat area. Baluchistan being the largest province of Pakistan in size but least populated is still in the development crisis and high poverty-stricken area that has become the center of unrest.
