A tragic accident happened in Nepal on Friday In which a bus with 43 Indian passengers rolled off into a swollen river drowning 21 of them. The incident occurred on the popular route of Pokhara-Kathmandu; the bus tumbled down the side of a mountain in the Tanahun district, 118 kilometers from the capital.
Nepal’s armed police spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said that all the 43 people on board including the two crew members were Indians. The roads in this area are very complicated in particular the streets are narrow and winding and it can be very hazardous for the large buses.
The survivor pissed rescuers a great deal of effort to find them and only 22 could be rescued from the dangerous currents of the Marsyangdi River. Out of all, twelve were in serious condition and evacuated by helicopter to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu for medical attention.
In rather terrible moving pictures one could see the sailors and other helpers risking their lives on the river banks entirely covered with debris using ropes and ladders to pull the injured and the dead out of the water. Many women and children were found sleeping on the banks of the river, and one half-fainted child was safely retrieved at the last moment.
The unfortunate incident occurred aboard the bus in Uttar Pradesh, India, and that state has seen fit to send an official to help out in the ongoing search-and-rescue efforts.
