KARACHI: A routine tax raid turned tense within the port metropolis as Federal Board of Income (FBR) officers had been held hostage by employees at a marriage corridor on Dalmia Highway.
Based on Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hamza, the marriage corridor was suspected of under-reporting earnings, prompting the FBR to launch an inspection.
Whereas the FBR crew had been conducting their investigation into the alleged under-reporting of earnings, they discovered themselves detained by the corridor’s workers.
Upon arrival, FBR officers stated, the crew was met with surprising resistance from the employees, who held the officers in opposition to their will.
Hamza acknowledged that he was alerted to the incident and arrived on the scene promptly to barter.
Following preliminary talks, some members of the FBR crew had been launched, although rigidity remained excessive.
Native police had been notified, but the corridor employees reportedly confirmed little regard for his or her presence.
After a number of hours of negotiations, all FBR officers had been ultimately freed.
Talking to Geo Information after the ordeal, Assistant Commissioner Hamza described the incident as a “departmental misunderstanding” and confirmed that the corridor employees had been summoned to the FBR workplace the next day for additional discussions
