Zelensky replaces military chief


KYIV:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has changed the chief of normal employees of the armed forces, in accordance with a decree issued Sunday, as Kyiv’s frontline troops proceed to battle.

In line with a communique, Anatoliy Bargylevych has been changed by Andriy Gnatov, who “has been tasked with growing the effectivity of the administration.”

The Ukrainian army, which has grown since mobilising to repel Russia’s February 2022 invasion, is within the strategy of reorganising its military corps to enhance coordination.

“We’re systematically reworking the Armed Forces of Ukraine to reinforce their fight effectiveness. This entails restructuring the command system and implementing clear requirements,” defence minister Rustem Umerov stated on his Fb web page.

He stated Gnatov has “greater than 27 years of army expertise”, including that Bargylevych has been appointed because the chief inspector of the defence ministry
